The University of Chicago Alumni Club of Atlanta elects board members every two years, and the following people joined our Board in July 2016. Read short biographies below, and be sure to say hello at the next event!

Jeff Haas, AB'82 - President
Jeff Haas graduated from the College in 1982 with a degree in English Language and Literature and has been a technical writer for over thirty years. He currently works for ADP as a Content Specialist and is a Fellow of the Society for Technical Communication. In his spare time, Jeff publishes short stories and poems in a wide variety of magazines and collects his short fiction in an Amazon ebook called Searching for Nada

Akshay Birla, AB'10 - Vice President
Akshay Birla received his AB in Economics from the University of Chicago in 2010. He works as a sales operations leader at Streamline Health, a health care technology firm headquartered in Midtown. Prior to moving to Atlanta at the end of 2014, he spent almost 5 years in Washington DC working at The Advisory Board Company. Akshay also serves on the boards of Woodstock School, an international boarding school in the foothills of the Indian Himalayas, and Kodai Friends International.

Jade Hill, AM'13 - Communications Chair
Jade Hill received her BA in Political Science and History at Franklin College in 2012 and her AM in Latin American Studies at the University of Chicago in 2013. She then moved to Atlanta to work in higher education at Kennesaw State University and Georgia Tech, before transitioning into the private sector. She is now the Digital Marketing Manager at Big Nerd Ranch and serves on the executive boards of the Pi Beta Phi Alumnae Chapter of Atlanta, the Franklin College Alumni Chapter of Atlanta, and the Social Media Club of Atlanta.

Nicole Baran AB'09 - Programming Chair
Nicole Baran graduated from the University of Chicago in 2009, where she majored in both Comparative Human Development and Economics. She went on to receive her Ph.D. in Psychology, specializing in Behavioral & Evolutionary Neuroscience, from Cornell University in 2015. She is now a postdoctoral researcher in the School of Biological Sciences at Georgia Institute of Technology. Nicole is also involved with the local chapter of the 500 Women Scientists (an organization for women in STEM fields), volunteers with the Atlanta Bicycle Coalition and swing dances semi-seriously.

Rob Stone, AB'86 - Board Member At Large
Rob Stone received his AB in Literature from the University of Chicago in 1986, his MA in English and Comparative Literature at Northwestern, and his PhD (among other degrees) in American Cultural Studies at Columbia. After publishing two novels, he started his own consulting business in 1996 and merged it with Market Strategies in 2007, where he currently works as CEO. He also serves on the executive committee of the Marketing Research Association and enjoys spending time with his family, propagandizing the merits of the University of Chicago to his kids, skiing, biking, and reading.

Neal Idnani, AB'08 - Board Member at Large
Neal Idnani received his AB in Economics from the University of Chicago in 2008. After a brief stint in corporate America, Neal started a brand of fast casual Indian restaurants called NaanStop, which has two locations in Atlanta, GA. He recently moved to Kirkwood with his wife, Erin. His hobbies include hiking, reading, cooking, and a recently developed interest in meditation.
